OLIVE BRANCH THE HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT OF FAITH GROUPS IN CANBERRA
OLIVE BRANCH
THE HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT OF FAITH GROUPS IN CANBERRA
You are cordially invited to the launch of Olive Branch – The History and Development of Faith Groups in Canberra (see invitation attached)
Olive Branch is a 4 DVD set of documentaries produced and directed by Ardeshir Gholipour, covering a broad cross-section of faith groups active in the ACT, and providing a hitherto undocumented history of Canberra’s spiritual heritage and its importance to members of the ACT community. Each faith is represented in a 20-40 minute episode which includes not only interviews with faith leaders and discussion of critical tenets of belief, but also the stories of ordinary people for whom faith and spirituality have been central to their lives.
An important historical document and educational tool, Olive Branch seeks to promote peace and harmony by encouraging greater awareness and understanding of the many and varied faith groups active in the nation’s capital.
To date this documentary series charts the establishment and development of Catholicism (including Ukrainian Catholicism), Lutheranism, Sikhism, Judaism, Hinduism and Jainism , Sukyo Mahikari, Macedonian Orthodoxy, Buddhism (principally Vietnamese and Thai), the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, Islam, the Interfaith Movement and Indigenous spirituality in the ACT. While this is a varied sample, it is by no means exhaustive and further discs documenting all other faith groups are underway to complete the series.
